Johnny Pares Guide Service

Biography
Johnny Pares

As a child growing up around Lake Tahoe, I spent the majority of my days outdoors. I cut my fly fishing teeth on the waters which drain both sides of the Sierra Nevadas. Rivers like the Truckee and the Yuba were my earliest teachers.

I was introduced to Northwest Montana when my family purchased land near Troy in 2001. This corner of the state has some excellent fishing opportunities, and I quickly began exploring the local waters and studying their ways. In the process, I was fortunate enough to meet Tim and Joanne Linehan. This is my seventh year guiding for Linehan Outfitting Co., on the waters of the Kootenai, Clark Fork, and their tributaries. I have also been able to expand my fly fishing experience by spending a season guiding in Chile.

I strive to learn something new each trip.  Every guide enjoys experienced anglers, but there is nothing more gratifying than introducing fly fishing to first-timers.  I am especially interested in instructing youngsters. Not only can it be great fun, but teaching conservation ethics to our children is vital to the survival of our great fisheries.  I am passionate about fly fishing and this beautiful part of the world, and hope I can share that with you.
